According to David Boufford (pers. comm.) : "Munz annotated them in the 1940s as Aquilegia ecalcarata forma semicalcarata Schipczinski. I also looked through other specimens we have of Aquilegia and all the other species in that area have long spurs. Apparently, E. ecalcarata can occasionally have small spurs".
